Slatersville Congregational Church

We Comfort

"Jesus said to him ‘Tend my sheep.’ "

John 21:16

As a church we comfort and care for others in our congregation and broader communities. We provide pastoral care and counseling. In addition, we have 10 trained Stephen Ministers who work with people who are going through difficult times.

Stephen Ministry: SCC is a Stephen Ministry church. The church has two Stephen Ministry leaders and 10 trained Stephen Ministers. Stephen Ministry is a one-on-one ministry to someone who is hurting. If you believe a Stephen Minister could be helpful in your life, please call Rev. Eileen Morris.

Prayer Shawl Ministry: Shawls are knit by the Needles & Pins Guild and other members of our congregation. The shawls are distributed to people in our community who are in need of comfort. Many blessings are prayed into every stitch. We also have ‘blessing blankets’ which are fleece hand tied blankets made by our children for children.

Needles & Pins: The Needles & Pins Guild meets on Thursdays a noon at the church. They come together each week to make prayer shawls, tiny hats for premature babies, colorful caps for chemotherapy patients. All are welcome.

Missions Committee: Funds are pledged each year to support the missions of the church. The Missions Committee considers the needs of our community, our country and our world in distributing the funds entrusted to it. We also provide hands on opportunities for people wishing to volunteer.
