Slatersville Congregational Church

The Ceremony

A church wedding is first and foremost a worship service.  Therefore, it is important that all who are in attendance are respectful of this sacred space.  With that in mind, here are some things you should know that will make your wedding day go smoothly.

1 – The sanctuary can legally hold 295 guests.

2 – The bridal party (bridge, groom, maid/matron of honor, best man, bride maids, groomsmen or ushers,  flower girls, ring boys or any variation there of) cannot exceed 14.  Any group larger than 14 will not fit in the front on the church.

3 – There is no center aisle but two side aisles.  Those aisles are very narrow 37 ½” .  Thought should be given to how the bride gets down the aisle.  Basically will the bride and her dress fit down the aisle along with the brides escort!

4 – No rice or birdseed can be thrown as the bride and groom leave the church.  Bubbles are great!

5 – NO ALCOHOLIC beverages are allowed on the grounds or in the buildings.

6 – There is both a pipe organ and baby grand piano available for use during the wedding. Slatersville Congregational Church can provide a church musician (for a fee) to play the organ or piano, or you may bring in your own musician(s), or use recorded music.  The pastor or church musician reserves the right of final decision on all music selected.

7 – You are welcome to decorate the church with flowers and plants.  Paper decorations are not allowed.

8 – You may use the church and the common for up to 90 minutes after the wedding for photographs and receiving lines.

**The wedding rehearsal is usually scheduled for the night before the wedding.  The rehearsal lasts one hour from when the last person involved in the wedding arrives at the church.  When planning the start time of the rehearsal please take into consideration that traffic on 146 north can be very challenging between 4-6:30 pm.
